DL LSM-AV Air Conditioner/Fan Energy Efficiency Trainer

Trainer built to simulate the operating conditions of air-conditioning and fan installations and study the system's energy efficiency under different conditions and components. The student selects which motor (conventional or high-efficiency) to couple to the load, driven by a frequency converter, soft starter or direct start, with the multifunction energy meter communicating with the PLC over the Modbus protocol and displayed in SCADA supervisory software. It includes a centrifugal and an axial fan in a Y configuration, a PLC-controlled electric damper, an airflow transducer, and a complete air-conditioning system with a hermetic piston compressor and a SCROLL compressor (20,000 BTU) controlled by a frequency converter. It allows studying motor efficiency from 0 to 120% load, comparing direct/soft/frequency-converter starting, and generating the air-conditioning system's COP.
