Compact DC (Holiday) Porosity Detector - PCWI

Used to extend coating-system service life by locating pinholes, air bubbles and porosity (holidays) in non-conductive coatings on conductive substrates, including concrete; PCWI also rents DC detectors to customers within Australia. Suited to pipeline, tank and structure coating operations, and ideal for storage tanks, valves and piping. Housed in a fully portable ABS case, the detector delivers a stabilized DC output of up to 30 kV, with a constant-current source that maintains the applied test voltage.

The P20 and P40 models are used for porosity and holiday testing of carbon-impregnated coatings such as carbon-filled rubber, thick coatings such as rubber linings, and plastic/fiberglass-type coatings that can carry an electrostatic charge. These models are ideal for wet conditions and on damp or contaminated coating surfaces, and are commonly known as holiday detectors, spark testers, porosity testers or jeep testers. They detect coating porosity (pinholes, or holidays) in dielectric (insulating) coatings on conductive substrates, including concrete, with a fully adjustable regulated pulsed output.

Uses the wet-sponge method to detect pinholes in coatings. The large probe head (230 x 40 mm) and wider sponge allow faster testing, with a headphone jack for testing in noisy environments (headphones not included), a seven-metre ground cable and clamp, and an instruction manual with calibration certificate.
