Foundry sand thermal-reclamation system using a fluidized-bed calciner. It includes a patented "Dead Bed" that shields the ceramic insulation from abrasion and adds extra thermal insulation; blanket and ceramic-board thermal insulation; stainless-steel bubble caps that introduce the gas/air mixture and fluidize the sand; and a standard heat exchanger that captures energy from the hot sand to preheat the fluidizing air, cutting gas consumption. Operation is fully automatic via PLC with self-diagnostic controls, with no burner tubes to maintain, no post-burner required, and no moving parts in the calciner, heat exchanger or cooler-classifier.
